Newsletter January 2006
Dear Parents,
Welcome Back !!! We hope you all had a relaxing Christmas break after the show and such a fantastic end to the term!! Many thanks for the lovely messages, cards and emails we received!!! The chocolates and wine were very much appreciated!! For future reference, Ceris is actually allergic to dairy products, but Carla, Rachel, Emma and I are not!
Helpers
We would like to invite all of the parents who helped backstage at the show, to a little “thank you” at Appleton Thorn Village Hall from 2-5pm on Sunday 15th January. This will also be really helpful for us, to get your ‘feed back', so that we can plan ahead for our next production (I know …we never stop, do we?). Children and partners are all welcome and the bar will be open!! Hope to see you there!!
Show DVDs and VHS
The Show, what can we say? The students, we are sure you agree, were absolutely brilliant, and all their hard work was more than evident. There was a professional recording made and a DVD/ video is available to purchase. Order forms are available from your class teacher. These should be sent straight to the address on the order form. If you are new to the school, the last DVD/Video was fabulous, and they are not expensive. They make a fantastic present for Grandparents and family (and, of course, pupils!) that maybe did not get to see the show!! And a lovely souvenir to look back on in years to come!!
Photographs
We have put together a compilation on A4 of some photographs taken during the rehearsals of the show. They will be on display on the notice board, and if you wish to purchase one or more, there will be a small charge of 50p to cover the costs.
Programmes
There are still some programmes left over, and so if you would like to buy one, please ask, and we will bring one to your next class!!
Costumes
There are, unfortunately, some costumes unaccounted for, which have been taken home. We need these ASAP, as they were hired, and were due for return to other venues during the Christmas break.
There are also some payments due for T-shirts that were ordered, mainly from the senior classes. Please make cheques payable to KCC Enterprises.
Website
We have a fantastic new website, Make sure you all log on! The most important page for parents of pupils currently at the school will be a “Members Only Page”. We have more classes at other venues apart from Appleton Thorn Village Hall and ensuring everyone gets the information can be difficult, particularly as the children get older and parents do not come in to class to collect them. Apart from the notice board at the Village hall, this will now be an important method of communication for us. It will contain the timetable, newsletters, exam details, uniform list, show information!!! and more! This will ensure that you all have access to up to date information, for when letters go missing!! This new facility should be ready by the third week in January.
For your personal password to get on the “Members Page” email karen@appletonthorndance.co.uk
Could we also ask for you to update us?!! Many times we have tried to contact parents and found the mobile telephone number to be out of date!!! There are registration forms missing too!!! We will put a form on the website for you to down load and fill in. If we could have any changes to details as soon as possible, we would really appreciate it!!

And finally…I would like to introduce my new partner, Ceris Verrinder. Ceris has now been teaching at ATSD for three and a half years and has worked incredibly hard, alongside myself and the rest of my staff, to bring out the best in your child. She worked tirelessly for the show and is a huge asset to the school. Ceris is always encouraging and positive, and the pupils think a great deal of her…need I say more?
